It all begins with a feeling—the feeling of dysmorphia. The instability of one’s self. A different state of mind, scattered, like pieces of evidence at a crime scene. Connected yet cleaved. Each fragment holds a clue, an insight into the turmoil that rages within. These shards of the mind reflect distorted images of who we are, and who we might become.

"Chiaroscuro" is a mixed-media installation pieced together from self-portraits, each made with a slow shutter to trace shifting states of mind. These photographic fragments are pinned against a white wall and interwoven with red yarn. The red threads echo the investigative lines detectives use to connect evidence, but here, they trace the links between my own thoughts, emotions, and interior landscapes.
At the composition’s center sits my eye, acting both as a literal anchor and as a metaphor for self-awareness: an observer witnessing and integrating the spectrum of inner experience. The eye motif, physically shaped and outlined by the path of the yarn, underscores the role of perception in self-understanding. While the red yarn ties the portraits together, the rest of the ball of yarn is deliberately left with loose threads, pointing to unresolved facets and unexplored territories within myself. The work gestures to the ongoing process of self-discovery; there are always connections left to unravel.
If you think about it, it's all in your head.
No one else completely knows you, no matter how well they can interpret a person's thoughts based on their physical appearance. Unless they're a wizard, they can never fully understand you.
